SHE'S CAST TO PLAY IN FILM

Sydney, Sunday

THE Australian character actress Lettie

Craydon has been chosen for the second female role in the American-directed film "Kangaroo," and will fly to Port Augusta, South Australia, on Tuesday, to join the company.

Miss Craydon will play Kathleen, housekeeper to Maureen O'Hara, and is under a monthly contract with a daily option up to six weeks. The contract was signed this week.

She was chosen after her per-formance as Sister Josephine in the play "Bonaventura."

Miss Craydon said yesterday she was most excited and proud to be working under a director of the abilities of Lewis Milestone.

"It will be a wonderful break for me and of tremendous educa-tional value. I looked over my part the other day, and I love it, particularly as it has a touch of Irish about it.

"I have been studying it hard and getting ready to leave. My frocks have been prepared, anaI have tried most of them on.

"It will be marvellous working with Maureen O'Hara and Peter Lawford; but, I'm not a star, and I doubt whether my name will be in big lights," Miss Craydon said.
