I LONDON, Sunday: A

£500,000 contract to manu-facture petrol engines for the new 6 h.p Australian "people's car" has been signed.

The engines will be made by F. M. Aspin and Co. Ltd., ol Bury (Lancashire).

It is expected that the car will be on the market by the end of the year.

Mr. L. J. Hartnett, who negotiated the contract, said that the first consignment of engines will be ready for ship-ment at the end of August, and that 500 would follow each month thereafter.

The car will be built entirely of cast aluminium, will seat four people, and is claimed to do 60 miles to the gallon at an aver-age speed of 40 m.p.m.
