Aborigine

actor's

bad deal

LONDON, Fri. (S.S.):

Ealing Studios are not per- mitted to pay Henry Mur-dock, aboriginal film actor, full Equity rates for his part in the Australian pic-ture "Bitter Springs."

The company said that they wanted to pay him the rate that the white actors were get-ting.

The Australian Department of Native Affairs, however, said that he must be paid only £6.

Murdock has a leading part in the film, and the situation is interesting film people in

Britain.

"Bitter Springs" is well on its way to completion, and is likely

to get an Australian premiere before it is shown in Britain.

The operators hope to arrange a "bonza" Australian send-off before it gets its London show-ing towards the end of June.
