The Life of Melbourne

HEAR from Mrs Roy Magel-

lan, of Toorak, that her niece and nephew, Sue and Tim Han-lon, will be setting off in the Orontes on February 17 for a visit to England.

Sue, who has been studying commerce at Melbourne Univer-sity, intends to spend some years over there, and may continue her studies at an English university. It will be a shorter trip for Tim, who has been working as a jackeroo on a station in New South Wales.

The English-born pair will visit relatives while abroad.

ENGLISH women cricketers

had a full programme yester-day. They watched the Shield game at the MCG, were guests of the VCA at lunch, and later in the afternoon practised hard at South Melbourne ground.

They had no engagements last night, for there is a strict team rule that players must be back at their hotel early on the evening before a match.

Incidentally, when they play Victoria at South Melbourne ground today, one of the um-pires will be former cricketer Betty Rattray, the only fulltime woman cricket umpire in

Melbourne.
