Football Notes.

At a meeting of the council of the New South Wales Rugby Union last week, Messrs. J.F. M'Manamey and H.A. Lang-<*> ley were appointed to act with Mr. F.C.

Loa, of Queensland, to represent Australia in the matches against the English football team at Sydney. Mr. J. R. Henderson was appointed New I South Wales representative on the committee to select the team to represent Australia < against England in the match to be played at Brisbane. A letter fe to hand from Mr,. Lynch, Dinmore, who Is president of the " Bush Rats" I Club, who were the premiers last year under the British Association rules, stating that that clulb had gone on a pleasure tour to Howard, in the Maryborough district, to ptoy a few friendly games witn t&e clubs in >tjlat looallty, and that the Bush Rats had ,*eon successful in their first match by 3 goals to 1. Unfortunately the name of the opposing club is not to band. Next Friday a team from Brisbane will vtoit Gympie to try conclusions with the Qymple Clirt). Though the team will go under the auspices of Uie^Clty Club, It is understood that players from our other senior clnbs will bo included. I am informed that the Exhibition Ground has been secured for the four Saturdays In July for the International and Intercolonial matches.That That keen sport, Mr. M'Quire, of Queenstreet, Is iglvlng a handsome trophy in the form of a gold-mounted partridge-wood walking-stick for competition among the junior clvrte. There is a possibility of Bob M'Cowan yet making the trip to Sydney, and though too late to represent Queensland, it is morally certain that if at all ftt he will be picked I .for the representative team. Photographs of our English visitors are | to hand, and if faces are any indication, thejt will be a pleasant lot to meet off the football field as well as on. A correspondent writes :—<A meeting was held on Monday last .week to told farewell to Mr. Charlie L/uxura, an esteemed member of the East Brisbane Harrier Football Club. Blagg's Hotel was the rendezvous, "and there was a good turn-up of members. Mr. Luxton has been full-lack of the club, and also of the same body while under the name of the lona Football Clut). The guest was presented with a handsome travelling trunk, suitably inscribed, which was presented by the chairman, Mr. J. Austin. Among those who also spoke were Messrs.
