VFL To Discuss Essendon Dispute

Dispute between - the Essendon Football Club and the Essendon1 City Council over the use of the Essendon Reserve will be investigated by the VFL grounds committee.

A deadlock has arisen following an order from the Essendon City Coun

- cil that baseball is to be played on

the ground before football matches "this season. If baseball is played Essendon will be the only club in the League not having curtain-raiser football matches.

The Essendon Council has an agree-ment with the Essendon Baseball Club which gives the baseball club the right to use the ground before all main football matches until Sep-

tember 3 this year.

Essendon delegates will meet the "Council's advisory committee next Wednesday, when a definite decision .on- the use of the ground will be

made

. Mr L. H. McBrien, VFL secretary, said last night that the VFL grounds 'committee would investigate the agreement between * the. Essendon

council and the baseball club. If the agreement were in order, then the council and the VFL were bound to honour it, and Essendon FC would not be able to arrange curtainraisers this season.
