Sam Snell returns to

train with Preston

Sam Snell, former St Kilda and interstate player, who retired last year, has resumed training at Freston.

Snell transferred to St Kilda from New South Wales in 1936 and played in 93 matches before he joined Preston last year. He was one of the most successful players in- the VFA, and gave Preston splendid service as a follower, centre half-back, and full forward. At the end of the season he was runner-up to Rus Mclndoe (Brighton) and Tim Robb (Yarraville) in XHE ARGUS cup competition for the best and fairest VFA player.

Preston players who took part in the match between combined VFA and Bendigo Association teams at Bendigo did not come out of the game lightly. Syd Stewart, brilliant centre man, injured his ankle, and it is not yet known whether he will play in the next round. Dunstan and Bradley also received hard knocks. Other men who may not be fit this week are Riddell (knee) and Connelly (thigh).
