ARCHIBALD PRIZE TO VICTORIA

William Dargie's Fourth Success

SYDNEY, Fri: The Archibald prize for portrait painting - the most coveted of all Australian art awards - has been won by the Victorian painter, William Dargie.

Mr Dargie won the prize in 1942, 1943, and 1946. His entry was a por-trait of Mr L. C. Robson, head mas-ter of North Sydney Grammar

School.

The Wynne prize for a landscape was won by Mr Lance Solomon, of Mosman, with an entry entitled, "January Weather."

The Sulman prize for subject paint-ing has been won by Sali Herman, of Sydney, for a war picture with the title, "Native Carrying Wounded Soldiers."
