Richmond are in trouble. Some weeks ago they arranged a motor tour to Sydney from September 2 to 15. At that stage they were in a hopeless position. Now, with three wins on end, they are-close to the four. However, they propose to stay for five days in Sydney, and play a NSW team on September 7. They will return via Albury, playing a combined team there on September

14.

Essendon owe much to Harold Lambert for his fine play in the centre on Saturday. He came from half back, but had played there be-fore putting on uniform. Harper, Leehane, Powell, Bower, and C. Lambert are in the running for selection this week. Gardiner wras kicked above the knee, but should be fit._

South will miss Graham and King on Saturday, but Holland and Dun-can have chances of filling the

Always a dependable player, Arthur < Bailey, Brighton full back, really < reached top form in the game

against Coburg. With the wind his ' kicks-off always reached the centre < wing, and against it his low stabs ' covered up to 50 yards. i

Jim Clark (Carlton) on Saturday, with some of the pace he showed when he won the 75 yards at Stawell, made some grand saves, and was best on the side.
