FIRE AT ALBERTON.

BEENLEIGH, June 27.

The Gem Hotel, at Alberton, was de-stroyed by fire at 1 o'clock this morning. Mrs. P. O. Kugler, wife of the licensee, who was the sole occupant, escaped from the building in her night attire. Her father, Mr. H. A. Weigel (the licensee), was absent at a meeting of the com-mittee of the German Club at Brisbane. The building, which was insured for £600, was owned by Mr. F. G. Marks. The stock and furniture were insured for £450.
