WINTERGARDEN THEATRE.

"The Kid Stakes," a rollicking comedy of boyhood's adventures, will be the star attraction for the Wintergarden Theatre for to-day. The story is based on Syd Nicholl's famous cartoons. Tiny King, Bruiser Murphy, Jimmie Kelly, Shooey Shugg, "Seasy," Betty Briggs, Kitty Kelly, Algy, Snoops, "Headlights" Hogan—they're all here. "The Kid Stakes" will be show-ing at the Wintergarden until Saturday only. In this picture of the tvpical Aus-tralian "kid" picture you will see the first goat race on the screen. Somebody stole "Fatty's" goat, and 'then followed the funniest search ever seen on the screen. The wrong goat is captured; Bruiser's goat, "Stonker," is favourite for the race, but "Fatty" and "Hector" got there in time. Then hundreds of goats race for supremacy. Thundering around the track they come, "Hector" and "Stonker" neck and neck. Box plan is at Paling's. Lew Cody has been provided with the greatest role of his career in

John M. Stahl's production, "The Gay Deceiver," the Metro-Goldwyn picture, which will open at the Wintergarden Theatre to-day. The role is a radical de-

parture from the light comedy he has

been portraying recently. The work of the remainder of the cast is of distinguished merit. Miss Myers, offers a characterisa-tion with a delicious undercurrent of humour. Roy D'Arcy, Malcolm M'Gregor, Marceline Day, and Dorothy Phillips are also seen in the cast. Tom Kelly, un-disputed peer of Irish entertainers, will conclude his season a the Wintergarden Theatre on Saturday next.
