MARYBOROUGH JUBILEE.

MARYBOROUGH, October 16.

The celebrations in connection with the 50th anniversary of the Sisters of Mercy in Maryborough were com-menced last night, when a concert was given in the City Hall by past and pre-sent pupils of the Convent High School Following the concert Monsignor M Carthy introduced Dr Duhig (Arch-bishop of Brisbane), who addressed the audience briefly, and complimented Miss A. Nolan, a past pupil, who had written a two-act play that had been presented, The Very Rev Dr English (rector of St Leo's College, Brisbane), Rev. Father Jordan (Nundah), Rev. J. O'Connor (Kilcoy), and the Very Rev Dean O'Flynn and Father Dee (Gympie) are the visiting clergy at-tending the functions. This morning, in St Mary's Church, Archbishop Duhig celebrated a pontifical high mass of thanksgiving, the Archbishop and clergy being the guests of the Sisters of Mercy at lunch later.

A successful concert was held to-night, when the Sisters were presented with an address, and a cheque for £200 His Grace, Archbishop Duhig, was wel-comed by the Mayor (Alderman Bash-ford), and a cheque for £240 was pre-sented to him in connection with his jubilee
