STRONG QUEENSLAND

XI

MOTOR CYCLE REPLAY.

The interstate Soccer selectors (Messrs. J. S. Hildreth, G. R. Tainton, and A. Gibb), after witnessing the Brisbane fixture on Monday and the Ipswich game at Bundamba yesterday have chosen a strong Queensland XI, which, in their opinion, should at the Brisbane Cricket Ground on Saturday next, avenge the narrow defeat inflict ed on the maroons by New South Wales last Saturday. New South Wales, however, are determined on capturing the "double" in the tests, and they have already shown by their speed and skill that Queensland will need all the cleverness, pace, and dash at their disposal to circumvent them. That the struggle will be exceptionally close and exciting to a degree is only too apparent, judging by past form. The Welshmen's manager (Mr. Syd Storey) is confident that his team, now that the players have properly settled down to Queensland conditions, will be an even more dangerous lot on Saturday. The fact that after Saturday's test the Australian team to tour Java will be finalised will act as an added incentive to both sets of players to reproduce their best form Another star attraction will be the motor cycle Soccer replay, Triumph versus Dunelt. The expert manner in which these motor cyclists, several of them Speedway riders, handled their machines and manoeuvred for the ball, also their neat passing and their general skill and daring in making tracks for the goal, had last Saturday's huge crowd greatly excited. An even bigger thrill is expected in Saturday's replay, which will be staged as a curtain -raiser to the big match Queensland versus New South Wales. Special Q.F.A. trophies will be awarded to the winners of the match.
