AUTHORS' WEEK.

A number of those who are unable to

visit the exhibition of Australian litera-ture and art in the day time took the opportunity last evening to view the many interesting exhibits in the old Normal

School for Girls, and to enjoy the enter-tainment, arranged by the Queensland Authors' and Artists' Association. Pro-fessor , J. J. Stable, M.A., presided, and literary papers were given by Mrs. Emily

Bulcock, Messrs. F. Bennett, B.Sc., L.

Anderson, and Inigo Jones. A feature of the evening was the programme of Queensland music and songs arranged by Miss Merna Gillies, and contributed by Mrs. Spencer Browne. Misses Mildred Bell, Merna and Acie Gillies, Audrey Bell, Mae King, Ivy Plane, Meta Maclean, Mollie Gordon. Messrs. J. E. England, and Robert Kaye. Supper was served by a small committee of the members of the Artists' Association, comprising Mrs. Ashton Murphy, Mrs. Cottrell, Mrs. Thompson, Misses Brady, Thompson, Col-clough (2) A. E. Jones, Frances Watson, Muller, Rattray, and Valda Gillies. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Gillies, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Watson, Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas, Mesdames J. J.
