BURGLARY AT ITHACA.

Further inquiries into the attempt to break into the strongroom at the Ithaca

Town Council Chambers on Wednesday last show that the burglars succeed in making a small hole in the reinforced concrete floor by means of a high ex-plosive, but were unsuccessful in obtain-

ing entry. The noise of the explosion attracted the attention of two young men, who advised the police, and the Town Clerk was summoned. On pro-ceeding to the Council Chamgers, how-ever, it was found that the thieves had cleared out before having had time to remove anything. The manner in which the operations were conducted suggests that the burglars were not novices at this work.
