The Earl of Ducie Farewelled. |

Members of the Maryborough and Wide Bay Club yesterday tendered a farowell to the Earl of Ducie and Lady Beatrice Moreton, who will leave Mary-borough on Tuesday to join the steamer Ascanius at Brisbane, en route for Eng-land, to take posseesion of the recently inherited estate in Gloucestershire. The .president of the club (Mr. D. C. Jack-son) occupied the chair, and felicitous speeches were made by the chairman, Drs. G. W. Farmer and H. Lee Garde, Messrs. A. E. Kemp, D. Barriskill, C. H. Hughes, A. M. Horsburgh, G. Wold, J. L. Dymock, C. J. Gataker, and Alder-man H. J. Hyne. The Earl was subse-quently presented with a gold matchbox suitably inscribed. In responding, he referred to his life in Australia, which dated back to November 27, 1855. He stated that his son, Lord Moreton, would leave for England in about three months'

time.
