MAYOR.

The South Brisbane Council met at noon yesterday for tho purpose of electing a mayor for the ensuing 12 months. There were prêtent : Aldermen 11. Neylun (1 etiring mayor), J. 1!. Burke, J. Allen, L. Alderman Bmko nominated Aldciman Stephens for the position.

Alderman Stephens thanked them for the ptoposcd honour, but legrctted that his pri-vate business would not allow lum to ne cent it

Alderman Burke nominated Alderman Allen, and this was cariled unanimously.
