COMMONWEALTH ASSOCIATION.

CONFERENCE CONCLUDED.

The second annual conference of the

Commonwealth Football Association was concluded at the Grosvenor Hotel yester-day. The chairman (Mr. R. J. Holiday, South Australia) presided.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year : Patrons, the GovernorGeneral, the Admiral, and the State Gov-ernors ; president, the Mayor of Brisbane (Alderman C. M. Jenkinson) ; vice-presi-dents, Hon. E. J. Stevens, M.L.C. (Queensland), Messrs. J. Nobbs (New South Wales), H. L. Dockerty (Victoria), W. W. McLellan (South Australia), Cap-tain Cottrel-Dormer (Tasmania) ; in the case of Western Australia, tho associa-tion is to notify its State vice-president at its earliest convenience; chairman, Mr. R. J. Holiday (South Australia) ; hon.

secretary and treasurer. Mr. S. Lynch (New South Wales).

The action of the New South Wales F.A. in endeavouring to secure revenue grounds in the States of Victoria, South Aus-tralia, Western Australia, and Tasmania,

was approved,

The Queensland Association reported the suspension of a late officer, and this was endorsed and ordered to be sent on to the Football Association of England.

To prevent misconception in regard to laws 6 and 10 of the game, the congress decided that, for the purpose of all free kicks, a player should not approach with-in 10yds. of the ball.

New South Wales reported the estab-lishment of an alleged metropolitan association in Sydney, and as that body re-fused to affiliate with the New South. Wales Association, the latter had sus-pended the administrative officers of the new association. and had stated its intent-tlon to suspend all players participating in its competition, at the same time making provision for reinstatement. The attention of all Australian associations was drawn to these suspensions, so as to be in accordance with the articles of the Commonwealth Association. The confer-ence expressed regret at the occurrence of this incident, and appointed Mr. R. J. Holiday to act. as mediator, in the hope that the breach would be healed and all soccer football in New South Wales con-ducted under the one authority.

Queensland's contention of 1913 that Aldred was not eligible for competition football in New South Wales, during that season, was declared to be incorrect.

Regarding the Olympic Games at Ber-lin in 1916, the congress strongly re-commended each State to co-operate with the various local Olympic Committees, with a view to representation at Berlin. The hon. secretary (Mr. S. Lynch) was directed to forward fraternal greetings to the Australian Olympic Committee, and to assure it of the hearty co-operation of the Commonwealth Football Association, also stating that the association desired that the necessary steps should be taken for the representation of soccer football

at Berlin.

The conference closed by tendering its thanks to the Mayor of Brisbane (Alder-man Jenkinson) for the many courtesies he had rendered; also to the Queensland Association. As an appreciation It was decided to present the mayor with an autographed photograph of the delegates

to the congress.
