Municipal and Divisional Board Elections.

STEPHENS.

The polling for the election of a candidate for the new division of Stephens, in the room of Mr. C.H. Buzacott, resigned, took place yesterday week, the polling-places being at Wool-

loongabba and Fairfield. At 6p. m. the return ing officer (Mr. W. Stephens) declared the state of the poll to be as follows:—For J. H. Her man—117. For C. H. Buzacott—111. Ma jority for Herman, 6. Indooroopilly. A poll was taken on the 5th instant for the election of representatives of Nos. 2 and 3 subdivisions, Indooroopilly Division, with the following result .-—Subdivision 2 : Charles Patterson, 92; Richard Woolcock, 27. Ex traordinany Election : John Graham, 73 ; Andrew Todd, 49. Subdivision 3 (extraordi nary election) : George Carr, 54 ; Lachlan M'Kinnon, 33. The returning-officer, Mr. W. M. Gibson, therefore declared Messrs. Patter son, Graham, and Carr duly elected. SOUTHPORT. The polling for this division closed with the following result:—No. 1 subdivision: Mr. Joseph Jones was elected without opposition in the room of Mr. Stevenson, who retired. For No. 2 subdivision Mr. W. C Welsh was also elected without opposition. For No. 3 subdivision Mr. Hicks was nominated, but owing to the flood his nomination paper failed to arrive in time. Tho seat is, therefore, vacant, and it is sincerely hoped that the Government will see fit to appoint this gentle-man. Beenleigh. The election for the Divisional Board of Beenleigh took place on Tuesday week. The only contest was in No. 3 division, J. Savage, the retiring member and chairman, being opposed by G. P. Costin. The poll resulted in the return of G. P. Costin, who polled 93 votes to J. Savage's 78 votes. Clifton. 'The result of the polling for members for the Clifton Divisional Board resulted in the election of Messrs. Gordon, Hanley, and Logan. Bundanba. The election of a member to serve for No. 3 subdivison on the Bundanba Divisional Board resulted as follows: —Bryson (the retiring member), 61 ; Shillito, 59. Goolman. In consequence of no poll having been taken at Coochin during the recent election for a member for No. 2 subdivision of the Goolman Division, the returning-officer (Mr. Pickard)has decided to hold a fresh election for the subdi-vision. Tarampa. The election of three members to serve on the Tarampa Divisional Board resulted in the return of Messrs. Lord, Ballantine, and A. Scott. Blackall. Not much interest has been taken in our annual municipal elections (writes our Blackall correspondent) the retiring members, Messrs. Banks and Budge, being re-elected; Messrs. A. K. Pennycuick and G. G. M'Pherson were ap-pointed auditors. For the divisional board Mr. F. Shaw (of Cobb and Co.) has been re elected unopposed for No. 1 subdivision, and for No. 2 Mr. James Moffatt will oppose the retiring member Mr. R. L. Casey. [By Telegraph.] Toowoomba, February 4. Mr. James Trott was elected for No. 3 sub division of the Jondaryan Division; Mr. James Campbell was elected for No. 1 subdivi-sion, and Mr. George M'Cleverty for No. 3 subdivision of Gowrie. Messrs. John Truss and Frederick Lindenmeyer have been elected to fill the vacancies in the Middle Ridge Shire Council. The Hon. James Taylor, M.L.C, was to-day elected chairman of the Jondaryan Divisional Board for the seventh time. The Hon. J. F. M'Dougall, M.L.C, was also elected chairman for the Rosalie Divisional Board. Tambo, February 4. The following is the result of the Divisional Board election:—For subdivision No. 1, Mr. Terrick Alfred Hamilton: No. 2, Mr. James Thomas Allan, elected unopposed. Both have previously been board members.

Cunnamulla, February 9. Great excitoment was manifested over the election for the Divisional Board, which con-cluded on Monday, when the poll was declared as follows :—Edward Brown, 63; Thomas Pain, 63 ; Edward King, 61. A protest was lodged by the unsuccessful candidate, who in-tends to take action against Robert Warner, the returning-officer, "for improperly rejecting eighteen votes as informal, which would have given him a majority over Pain. The votes were rejected because the ballot papers were witnessed by Arthur Leeds, general manager for Cobb and Co., who was alleged to be King's agent
