"" THE "SOCCER" GAME.

PRELIMINARY MATCH.

The opening of the British Association football season took place on Saturday at the Brisbane Cricket Ground, before one of the biggest attendances which a club "soccer" match has had in Bris-bane. The competing teams were the Wellingtons and the Bulimba Rangers The members were as follows -

The first half was very uneventful, and neither side seemed to warm up to the game properly, and the play consisted of a steady drift up and down the field from goal to goal. During the latter part of the time there was more headwork than anything else. There was a little combination work, which was very pretty, but for the most part the play was very ladylike. Almost every time the ball was kicked it seemed to go out.
