Our Toowoomba correspondent advised last night :-Dr. Freshney, «medical adviser to his Excellency the Governor, reports that his Excellency is .making favourable progrès««, ¡md that he will probably be fully recovered after resting for a day or

two.

At the annual meeting of the Brisbane Gymnasium his Excellency the Governor, Lord Chelmsford, was elected patron ot the institution. A few days later, before lie was even officially informed of his elee tion, his Excellency thoughtfully forwarded ii subscription.

On his tour in Hie Central district the Premier will be accompanied by tire Home Secretary. Mr. Airey will also probably accompany Mr. Kidston on lils Northern tour, yvhich commences after the Premiers'

Conference.

The Hon. R. Philp, IMJj.A., purposes leaving Brisbane for the Gulf at the end of April. (He will proceed overland from Burketown to Cloncurry, and thence to Townsville, probably via AVInton. Mr. ?Philp will address his constituents at Townsville, and «will probably address a few meetings at other centres.

Captain Weaver, who. is, well known, jn. Brisbane and Sydney, was a passenger by

the steamer Norkoowá", which arrived at Pinkenba from the Solomon Islands last

Friday. Nearly every person on board the vessel was suffering from the effects, of malarial fever, and Captain Weaver' was so ill that he landed at Brisbane and was taken to the Queen's Hotel. Dr. Con-nolly was called in to attend Captain Weaver, who is now progressing favourably towards recovery.

.Mr. J. J. Eastick for .many years gene-ral manager of the Millaquin mid Yengarie Sugar Compuny, and wllio is now on a holiday tour in Japan, has resigned his position with the company (wired our Bun. daberg correspondent last night). Mr. J. Johnston, formerly the company's manager in Sydney, who is now acting as locum tenens. has been appointed general man-

The Rev. Sweyn Macqueen, of St. An-drew's Presbyterian Church, avho has been on a visit to the South for several months, was a passenger by the steamer' Aramac, «which arrived here yesterday.

On his visit to the Ipswich railway workshops, Air. J. Fawsett, arclutect of the Victorian Railway Department, was ac-companied bv the Chief Engineer for Rail-ways (Mr. W. Pagan) and the Director of Forests (Mr. P. M'Mahon).
