Messrs. Longmans, Green, and Co. are publishing an account of (Mallet du Pan, a writer on the Royalist side of incidents of the French Revolution. The author is Ber-nard Mallet, a great-grandson of (Mallet du Pan. Carlyle and Taine recognised the lat-ter's competence as an observer.
