ASSOCIATION.

The first cup match of the season was played at Pineapple Paddock on Saturday between Stars and Cities. Cities won the toss, and kicked off with the sun behind them punctually at 3.30 p.m. The Stars played a very combined game, and In a few minutes were in the Cities' goal. ,W. Dreghorn saved matters, however. Harper and Agnew showed to every advantage for the Cities. For ten minutes play- was devoted entirely to Cities' defending. After a hard struggle Stars shot a good goal. Stars, 1 ; Cities, nil.

In another five minutes Stars scored another goal. Stars, 2 ; Cities, nil.

Logan worked really hard on his wing, but could not find support. Beyond doubt the Cities up to this point had played very badly. They paid for It by shortly after-wards allowing another goal. Stars, 3 ;

Cities, nil.

Rehren got away with the bal), and shot but too hard. This was only.'.the second time the ' Stars' goalkeeper had been

troubled.

Rehren, about fifteen minutes after halftime, scored a goal after a very hard struggle. Stars, 6 ; Cities, 1. After the ball had, been kicked off the game went very fast indeed, and soon another goal was scored. Stars, 7 ; Cities, 1. Stars

won by 7 to 1.
