London, Thursday.

The second reading of the Perth Enabling Bill passed the House of Commons, and the measure was referred to a Select Committee on the bill, in accordance with the desire of the Colonial Office.

Prospecting in the district of Merionethshire, North Wales, has resulted in the discovery of pay-able gold.

Francis Darbishire, the well-known gentleman cricketer; obtained a divorce from his wife on the ground of adultery with Mr. George Baird, better inown under the racing name of " Abingdon," and -whose name was lately before the public in connec-tion with the Smith-Slavin fight. The damages were assessed at £500. Mrs. Darbishire is acting under the name of Miss Agnes Hewitt.
