FRANK MUIR and Denis

Norden, England's highest paid radio comedy and variety script writers, authors of the B.B.C.'s "Take It From Here," in which Joy Nichols and Dick Bentley star, will be in Sydney in July under contract to the A.B.C. for three months, ac-cording to our London spies.

The boys, who will bring their wives, are to write 10 shows for the A.B.C, the exact nature of which has yet to be decided. They have denied the furphy that they will also run a "How - To - Do - It - Pro-perly" course for A.B.C. script writers. They say our radio authors are already in line with

the world's best.

They reckon each A.B.C. show will take five days' hard labour, 450 cigarettes, 60 cups of tea, and two ball-point pen refills, for which they will re-ceive an undisclosed sum com-mensurate with their reputed earnings of more than £10,000 a year in Britain. Nobody comes here any more for the sunshine.

MICHAEL PATE, now in

Hollywood, is in the running for a winning treble in 2UEs "Rola Show-Actor's Choice," the acting and script-writing talent

quest.

Next Tuesday, at 8.30 p.m., a play Pate wrote for the series, "The Stranger," is to be broad-cast. He played the lead in one of the plays before going abroad. If he won the treble, he would collect £.700 altogether; £100 for the best actor, £100 for the best playwright, and a £500 script-writing contract.
