Assassination

In Tunisia

LONDON July 2 (A.A.P.).-Azzedine Bey, 70-year-old heir to the Bey of Tunis, died last night a fier a'gunman had shot him at his home in Tunis.

His son, . Prince Abdel Hamid, chased and helped to capture the gunman, Hedi Ben Brahim Ben Ejebala Djeridi, 33. Police said later that the man admitted the shoot-ing.

Azzedine Bey was known for his pro-French sympathies.

Last year he refused to sign a statement prepared by other members of the Royal Family supporting obstruction by the Bey, Sidi Lamine, of French plans for Tunisia.

A campaign by National-ists since then has kept the French Protectorate in a fer-ment, with many shooting and bomb incidents.
