Martial Law

After

Lahore Riots

( KARACHI, March 6

(A.A.P.).-Martial law was proclaimed in Lahore to-day after three days of

rioting.

Major-General Mohammed Azim Khan, commander of the Tenth Division, has taken command as chief administra-

tor.

Karachi police killed 10 people and wounded 14 when they fired on rioters on Wed-nesday night and early on Thursday.

The Punjab Government announced last night that the situation was tense, but well

in hand.

The rioters were demon-strating against the Ahmadiya sect of Moslems, which inter-prets the Koran in the light of modern times. Many ortho-dox Moslems consider the sect heretical.
