GOVERNMENT FILM
WINS PRIZE
A Commonwealth Gov-ernment film about New Australians has won a
special award in the Jubilee film competition.
The Director-General of the Jubilee Celebrations, Lieuten-ant-General F. H. Berryman, said last night that the film, "Mike and Stefani," deeply impressed the judges. They considered it the outstanding
entry.
The film, a documentary feature, was made for the Im-
migration Department by the film division of the Depart-ment of the Interior.
OTHER AWARDS
First prize in the documen-
tary section was awarded to "The Invisible Link," a film about the work of the Post-master-General's Department.
"Coal," made by Kingcroft Productions, of Sydney, for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pty. Ltd., won first prize for a film for children of primary school age or older.
First prize for a film for children under eight was awarded to "A Pint of Milk," prepared by the Department of
the Interior.
The historical film made
specially by the Department of the Interior for Jubilee Year, "Cavalcade of Australia," which is now showing in Syd-ney, won first prize in the miscellaneous section.
AMATEUR WINNER
In the amateur section, first prize was won by "Australia's Inland Sea," made by Mr. F Hall, of Elsternwick, Victoria.
A special award for the best nature film in any section was given to "Six Minutes with Nature," an amateur film en-tered by Mr. W. G. Nicholls, of Parkdale, Victoria.
