Mrs. Chauvel In Hollywood

"Hollywood has glamour, but, oh, does Sydney look good!" ex-

claimed Mrs. Charles Chauvel when she returned with her hus-band by Pan American Clipper last night after four months in America—their first visit in more than ten years.

This Australian motion-picture team faces another full month. Speaking with one voice, they said: "We have to complete a script for a film for the Coal Board before January 16, and there are Christmas and two openings of 'Sons of Matthew'— Sydney on December 15 and Brisbane on December 23 in be-tween."

Mrs. Chauvel said that she had spent most of her time in Holly-wood script-writing for new pro-

ductions—"Wards of the Outer March," from the novel by Katherine Glasson Taylor, and two other scripts. Mr. Chauvel had taken practically a refresher course in general production techniques.

"Universal Films were impres-sed with 'Sons,' which has been retitled 'The Rugged O'Riordans,' and it was quite thrilling to hear projection boys on the studio whistling 'The Goanna Song' from the film," Mrs. Chauvel said.

She made an appearance in television, primarily for the pur-pose of studying the make-up technique.

"Colours were very pale, there was no eye shadow, and the lips were emphasised fully," she said.
