Sport Will Be

Written By Experts

SPORTING news and comment in "The Sunday Herald," the first issue of which will be pub-

lished on Sunday, will be written by recognised experts and by staff writers with special sporting knowledge.

Feature articles by outstanding sportsmen will appear regularly.

In the first issue next Sunday, Australian Open golf champion, OSSIE PICKWORTH, will begin a series of articles describing his own experiences and telling how to become a good golfer.

BILLY COOK, one of Australia's leading jockeys, and rider of two Melbourne Cup winners, will also begin

a series of articles.

Other prominent sportsmen who will write for "The Sunday Herald" include:

JIM CARLTON (athletics).

Olympic Games representa-tive at Amsterdam in 1928, and joint holder of the Aus-tralian 100 yards record of

9.6 seconds.

W.J. O'REILLY (cricket). One

of Australia's great Test bowlers.

JOHN BROMWICH (tennis).

Davis Cup player, Australian

champion in 1946, and pre-sent N.S.W. champion.

CECIL PEARCE (rowing). Re-

presented Australia at scul-ling at the Berlin Olympic

Games in 1936.

JACK MUNRO (boxing), who

has played a big part in developing Australian box-ing.

FORBES CARLILE (swim-

ming). Former State back-stroke champion; coach of the Australian swimming team at the 1948 Olympic

Games.

PROSPER ELLIS (golf). "A"

grade golfer since 1912; three times Pymble Club champion.

BILL YOUNG (cycling).

N.S.W. half-mile champion

in 1926.

"SKIP," who will write on

bowls, is one of Sydney's best-known players. He has led many State fours.
