THE wedding of Miss Valerie

Purves. of Melbourne, and Mr. James Elliott Murray, of Rhine Park, Eden Valley. South Australia, is ex-pected to take place at St. John's Church, Toorak, on October 22.

MRS. ROY McCAUGHEY, of

Coonong. Narrandera, who is visiting Sydney, has as her guests at her Onslow Gardens flat, Miss Alma Hubner, daughter of the Minister for Chile, Senor Manuel Hubner, and Señora Hubner (who are staying at the Hotel Australia), and Miss "Pimpo" Vidal. At a lunch Mrs. McCaughey gave at Prince's, the guests included Miss Hubner and Miss Vidal, Miss Ivy Williams, daughter of the High Commissioner for the U.K., Mr. E. Williams, and Mrs. Williams, who is also in Sydney from Canberra. Mrs. Neville Hoddle, and Mrs. W. Stuart.

MISS ANNE WHATMORE, of

Bellevue Hill, has returned to Sydney after a visit to her fiance's parents. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Betting-ton, of Coolie. Merriwa. She will be married to Mr. Richard Bettington early in October.

MISS VERA BRADFORD, the Vic-

torian pianist, who will arrive in Sydney on Sunday to play with the A.B.C. Symphony Orchestra, is looking forward to renewing friend-ship with Professor Maria Zebrowska, who has come to Australia from Poland for the New Education Fellowship conference. They both lived at the International House in Chicago, when Miss Bradford was studying with Percy Grainger, Rudolpf Ganz, and Alexander Raab, and Professor Zebrowska was studying and lecturing in America.

CAPTAIN BARBARA FINLAY,

A.A.M.C. (F.). daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Finlay, of Drum-moyne, has been appointed officer in charge of occupational therapy at the

113th A.M.H., Concord. Captain Finlay enlisted in the A.A.M.W.S. about three and a half years ago, Before coming to Sydney had a simi-job in Adelaide, and for two and a half years before that worked among psychiatric patients in Goulburn.

AN all-white wedding will take place

at the Grimm Memorial Church, Drummoyne, on Saturday, when Miss Patricia Saunders, daughter of Mr. P. B. Saunders and the late Mrs. Saunders, of Mosman, will marry Mr. Peter Brunton Gibb, ex-R.A.A.F., eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Brun-ton Gibb, of Fivedock. Two seven-year-olds, David Brunton Gibb and Jennifer Harris, will attend the bride with Miss Barbara Brunton Gibb. A reception will be held at Amory,

Ashfield.

MISS TERRY WALKER who will

star in the new Minerva show,

"Soldier's Wife," arrived in Sydney

yesterday from New Zealand: it is four years since she played "Claudia" here. Her husband. Jan Rubini, who

has been touring New Zealand for the past four months, leaves New

Zealand to-day by ship for Sydney

with their two small sons.

MISS EDMEE MONOD. who has

been visiting Sydney from Mel-

bourne, brought news of her dancing

partner, Miss Darya Collin, who is at present in New York. Miss Collin has been working with Helen Hayes and Paul Draper, and is hoping to give some dance recitals.
