New Centre's Big Part

In Rules Win

Playing his first game as centre, Jack Sheedy gave u brilliant exhibi-tion for Sydney-Naval Australian Rules side yesterday. He was main-ly responsible for most of his side's scoring moves.

Sydney-Naval defeated St. George by 48 points-21-21, 147, to 14-15, 99, at Trumper Park.

Sheedy, although only 19, is in his third year of first-grade football, hav-ing played in both Western Australia and Victoria.

In all previous games he has played only as a rover or pocket forward.

Sheedy was placed in the centre yes-terday because the team's regular centre. Frank Howard, was unavail-able through injury.

The teamwork displayed by Syd-ney-Naval was first-class.

During a scrummage in the second quarter, J. Eyre (Sydney-Naval) re-ceived a deep cut above the right eye.

He was taken to St. Vincent's Hos-pital, but allowed to leave after treat-

ment.

Alan Strang announced after the game that he would be returning to Albury this week.

He does not expect to be back in Sydney.
