CANBERRA, Monday. - The song, "Advance, Australia Fair,"
as well as the British and United States' National Anthems, will be played in most Australian pic-ture theatres, as a result of re-cent discussions between the Minister for Information, Mr. Calwell, and representatives of motion picture interests.
Mr. Calwell conferred with the chair- man of Greater Union Theatres Pty., Ltd., Mr. N. B. Rydge, and later the Motion Picture Exhibitors' Association of New South Wales carried a resolu-tion requesting all the independent theatres to play "Advance, Australia
Fair."
The Department of Information an-nounced to-day that Mr. Rydge, the managing director of Hoyts Theatres, Ltd., Mr. Ernest Turnbull, and the managing director of Metro-Goldwyn Pty., Ltd., Mr. N. B. Freeman, had agreed to have it played in all their theatres.
