"LADY IN DANGER"

Max Afford, well known for his j radio plays, has written a well-con- structed three-act comedy-thriller. "Lady in Danger.'' which was pre-

sented at the Independent Theatre on

Saturday night.

Well written and full of dramatic

surprise the play deserves the atten- tion of the professional theatre

Miss Doris Fitton s production of . Lady in Danger is the best enter-

tainmenl staged at the Independent

Theatre for several months.

Gwen Plumb (in the title role) and Kenneth Fowles (as a keen crime re-

porter) were outstanding and with James Pratt as the husband) and David Katner (?) (as the detective in-spector) maintained the dramatic

urgency of the second act.

As the urbane Dr Gresham, Norman Haire did not overplay his role

Dorothy Whiteley as the Irish land-lady, rather overplayed her role, but the interpretation was popular.
