Vice-Regal Plans.

The Governor-General, Lord Gowrie, and Lady Gowrie, accompanied by General A. T. Anderson and Miss Ivie Price, leave to-day for Queensland, where they will be the guests of the Governor of Queensland, Sir Victor Wilson, and Lady Wilson, at Government House. They will return to Sydney on July 31.

Holidays.

Mrs. G. R. Simpson and her daughter,

Suzanne, accompanied by Mrs. F. C. Dea-kin, of Moree, left Moree last week by car for Melbourne. Mrs. Deakin will visit her daughter, Mrs. Townsend, wife of Flying-Officer Bill Townsend, of Point

Cook.

Miss Bunty Plater, of Darling Point, who has been making a round of country visits, is at present the guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Boucher, of Boorowa. She motored to Canberra last Friday to attend the Military Ball at Duntroon, where her brother, Mr. Ronald Plater, is a staff cadet.

Mrs. W. A. Gledhill, of Point Piper, who sailed for New Zealand last week, will return to Sydney next month. Bowral News.

Mrs. Lennox Bode, formerly of Wolse-ley Road, Point Piper, has taken a house at Bowral for 12 months. Mr. Bode will join her at the week-ends.

The Misses Pam and Isobel Maddrell

have given up their studio flat in Bowral,

and will leave shortly for Sydney, where they will live for a short time at Dun-

robin, Roslyn Gardens. Later the sisters will take a flat at Double Bay.

Returned Home.

Mrs. Wallace Anderson and Mrs. Ste-

wart Jamieson, who have been in St.

Luke's Hospital, Roslyn Gardens, have returned to their respective homes with their baby daughters. Mrs. Anderson's baby is called Caroline Jane, but no name has yet been chosen for Mrs. Jamieson's daughter.

Mr. and Mrs. John Sweet, of Wah-

roonga, whose wedding took place in Sydney recently, have been visiting Forbes as the guests of Mr. Sweet's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Sweet. Last week they motored to Orange and spent a few days at Duntryleague Country Club before returning to Sydney.

Mr. and Mrs. John Bathgate, of Bonnie Doon, Bingara, who have been visiting Sydney for the past two months, returned home last week. They were the guests of Mrs. Bathgate's mother, Mrs. Charles Croaker, at her Sydney home, The Astor, Macquarie Street. Miss Heather Croaker, another daughter, who spends most of her time at her home in the country, Bell-bowrie Station, Edgeroi, is at present in Sydney for a short visit.

Mrs. John Swan, of Inverell, who has been on a visit to Sydney, has returned to Inverell accompanied by her daugh-ter, Mrs. Archie Sinclair, of Delungra.

Dr. John Mackenzie and his fiancee, Dr. Francesca Mackisack, who recently

announced their engagement, have been visiting Orange as guests of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Mackenzie, of Cothelle. They motored back to Syd-ney on Sunday.

Mrs. Clinton J. Blessing has returned home to Newcastle after a holiday as the guest of Dr. and Mrs. W. C. Bless-ing, of Braidwood. Her husband Lieu-tenant Blessing, is in camp at West Mait-

land.

Mrs. T. P. Fagan, of Leeholme, Coonam-ble, who was a recent visitor to Sydney has returned home.

Mrs. L. Halls, of Adelaide, who has been the guest of her brother, Mr. Francis Halls, of Cremorne, for the past two

weeks has returned home.

Mr. and Mrs. V. H. Bentham, of British North Borneo, who have been spending their furlough in Sydney, and stayed at 44 Macleay Street, Potts Point, have returned home.

To Join Daughter.

Mrs. E. G. Theodore, of Kirribilli, left for Melbourne last night to join her daughter, Miss Myra Theodore, who has been visiting Victoria for some time. On her return to Sydnay Mrs. Theodore will continue the series of bridge parties given at her home in aid of the Lady Gowrie Red Cross Appeal. Recently more than £50 was made at one of these parties.

The Trade Commissioner for Canada, Lieutenant-Colonel L. Moore-Cosgrave, and Mrs. Moore-Cosgrave, of Point Piper, will entertain at a luncheon party at the Royal Sydney Golf Club on Sunday, in honour of the High Commissioner for Canada, Mr. Charles J. Burchell, and Mrs. Burchell, who are visiting Sydney from

their home in Canberra.

Mrs. H. Baillie Newton, of Cooper-nook, Manning River, has come to Syd-ney to attend the marriage of her daugh-ter, Dr. Pauline Baillie Newton, of Mos-man, with Mr. Graham Stuart, of Syd-

ney, which will take place at St. Philip's Church, Church Hill, on Saturday.

Miss Joan Balmain, of Brukon, Cooma, will motor to Sydney next Wednesday, and will be accompanied by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Balmain. Her mar-riage to Mr. John Ferguson, of Glen-fergus station, Cooma, will take place on August 3, at St. Benedict's Church, George Street. Mr. and Mrs. Balmain will take a flat at Elizabeth Bay until after the wedding.

Country Visitors.

Mr. and Mrs. John Copley Collins, of Eurallie station, Yass, are on a visit to Sydney, and are staying with Miss E. M. Dease, of Darling Point. They will return home to-morrow.

Mrs. J. A. ("Pat") Tallis, of Braehour, Wagga, and her small daughter, Suzanne, left for Sydney early in the week to visit Mr. Tallis, who recently entered Ingle-burn camp. Mrs. Tallis, who will con-tinue to live at Braehour while her hus-

band is in the Army, will be in town for ten days.

Congratulations.

Congratulatlons are being received by Mr. and Mrs. Armer Hamilton, of Moama, Cremorne, on the birth of a son. Mrs. Hamilton, who is in Charlemount private hospital, Potts Point, was formerly Miss Elsa Schlink, and is the younger daugh-ter of the late Dr. and Mrs. R. H. Schlink, formerly of Albury, and a niece of Dr. H. H. Schlink, of Macquarie Street.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cox, of Wagga, are being congratulated on the birth of a daughter. Before her marriage Mrs. Cox was Miss Jean Lamont, only daughter of

Mrs. C. A. Lamont, of Wagga. Her hus-band is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. V. D. Cox, of Burrundulla, Mudgee. Their small son, Geoffrey John, is almost three.

Mr. and Mrs. John Harrison, of Neu-tral Bay, are receiving congratulations on the birth of a daughter at Saba private hospital, Neutral Bay, on July 17. The names chosen are Susan Gay. Mrs. Har-rison was formerly Miss Marnie Parker, of Mount Nombi, Gunnedah.

Interstate Visitors.

Mrs. W. Wilson, of Brisbane, who with her husband, Captain Wilson, has been spending a holiday in Sydney where they stayed at No. 9 Springfield Avenue, Darlinghurst, left last week with her mother, Mrs. Arthur Reid, to spend some time at the latter's home at Balwyn, Victoria. Mrs. John Langston Bath, wife of Lieutenant Bath, R.A.N., of Flinders, Vic-toria, has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Geoffrey Ashton, of Markdale, Goulburn, for the past three weeks, and returned to Victoria yesterday. She was accompanied by her two children, Sue-Anna and James. Mrs. Bath was formerly Miss Joane Holroyde, of Sydney.

Wedding Date.

Miss Nina Bragg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Bragg, of Mosman, has decided on August 3 for the date of her marriage to Mr. Everard Hibble. The ceremony will take place at St. Philip's Church, Church Hill, and afterwards Mr. and Mrs. Bragg will entertain at a reception

at the Australia Hotel.

Engaged.

The engagement is announced of Miss Jeanne Perry, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. H. Perry, of Manly, and Mr. Stuart Badgery, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Harrie Badgery, of Caramana, Grafton. Mr. Stuart Badgery is in camp with the A.I.F. at Ingleburn.

The engagement is announced of Miss Barbara Gertrude Parry-Okeden, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Parry-Okeden, of Auburn station, Chinchilla, Queensland, to Mr. Ford Irvine Geddes, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvine C. Geddes, of London. Mr. Irvine C. Geddes is chairman of the Orient Steam Navigation Co., Ltd. Mr. Ford Geddes, who visited Australia last year, is at pre-sent serving with the British Army.

The engagement is announced of Miss Margaret Boucher, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Boucher, of Coorong station, Boorowa, to Mr. John Manning Carter, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Carter, of Manly.

Farewell Party.

Brigadier-General and Mrs. E. C. P. Plant, who are leaving the Royal Military College, Duntroon, this week, gave a fare-well dance to the staff, military cadets, and many of their Canberra friends, in the college gymnasium. Among the visi-tors present were Mr. and Mrs. George Campbell, Mesdames W. J. Edwards, and B. Finlay, Misses P. and M. Eddison, H. and N. McMurtrie, I. Burchell, B. Somerville, J. Edwards, S. Jones, H. Till-yard, A. and F. Thomas, M. and J. Waring, M. Daley, J. Hatfield, S. Davies, P. Heyes, A. Woodger, J. Parker, and P. Chisholm (Goulburn).

Brigadier-General Plant will be suc-ceeded as Commandant of the college by Brigadier E. Harrison, a former Comman-dant. After leaving Duntroon, Colonel (now Brigadier) Harrison, represented a Victorian constituency in the Federal Parliament, and he and Mrs. Harrison have a wide circle of friends in Can-

berra. He receives promotion to Brigadier on this new appointment.

From Overseas.

Mrs. Edward Dawson, of Singapore, arrived in Sydney yesterday on a holiday visit, accompanied by her small son, Edward. They are the guests of Mrs. Dawson's sister, Mrs. C. R. Johnson, of Randwick.

With her two children, Eileen and Billy, Mrs. W. Eblett, of Basra, arrived in Sydney yesterday on an indefinite visit. Mrs. Eblett, who is Scottish, has never been in Australia before. She and her children are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Grieve.

Mrs. J. Ryder, who with her three children, Victor, Leonard, and Florence, arrived in Sydney by Dutch plane from their home in Singapore, is staying at the Wentworth Hotel. She has come to Aus-tralia, to put the children to boarding schools, and may remain here for three

or four months.

Home in Rose Bay.

Mr. and Mrs. Keith Mackay, who formerly lived in the country, will move next week into a house in Cranbrook Road, Rose Bay.

By Car to Brisbane.

Mrs. John Woods, of Killeen, North Sydney, accompanied by Mrs. W. F. Burfitt, has left by car for Brisbane. They expect to be away for a few weeks.

WILLIAMS, R.N., and his bride, MISS DAPHNE BONHAM CARTER, after their marriage at Buriton Parish Church. She is the second daughter of Major Bonham Carter, D.S.O., of the Manor House, Buriton, Hampshire, and Mrs. Auriol Gaselee, and he is the son of the late Mr. Erl Williams and of Mrs. G. A. Elkinqton, whose home is in Masterton, New Zealand. Lieutenant Williams is well known

in Sydney.
