ELECTORS* APATHY

In South Australian By-election.

ADELAIDE, Sunday.

At the by-election to fill the central dis-trict No. 2 vacancy in the Legislative Council, only 25 per cent, of the electors voted.

The count of first preferences resulted:E. W. Holden (Liberal Country League), 4256; W. S. Hanson (Independent Liberal), 2954; Clarence Goode (Independent), 1698.

The distribution of second preferences gave Holden a majority of 230 over Hanson, and he was declared elected, figures being Holden, 4569; Hanson, 4339.
