NEW BROADCASTING

STATION.

A new broadcasting station, 2KA, Katoomba, operated by Radio Katoomba, Limited, was opened on Saturday night.

The wave length is 259 metres, and the dial position is between stations 2UW and

2CH.

It is claimed that the new station serves 107,000 licensed listeners within its area.

NEW MELBOURNE STATION.

MELBOURNE, Sunday.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Lyons) opened the new station, 3XY, at the Princess Theatre to-night. This commercial station is the seventh in Melbourne and the 74th in Aus-tralia. It is operated by Efftee Broadcasters Pty., Ltd., and has a wave length of 211

metres.

"In Australia to-day," said Mr. Lyons, "there is a wireless receiver in every second home, yet it is only 12 years since the first Australian broadcasting station commenced

service."
