Mr. J. R. Kinghorn Awarded

Empire Diploma.

Mr, J. R, Kinghorn, senior scientific officer of the Australian Museum, has been awarded the diploma of the Museums' Association. He is the first Australian to be so honoured, The diploma of the association, which is an Em-pire organisation with headquarters in Lon-don, is awarded only after strict examination by a board of examiners.

Mr. Kinghorn was formerly president of the Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales, and is a member of the council of the Royal Australian Ornithologists' Union. He has been attached to the scirntiflc staff of the Australian Museum for nearly 28 years. He has published about 50 scientific papers, be-sides many articles on popular natural his-tory, and a book on Australian snakes.
