To Direct Australian Film.

Mr. John ¡Longden, the English actor, who played the part of the Dean in "The Silence of Dean Maitland," is to remain In Australia to direct talking pictures. Highway Produc-tions, Ltd., has been formed, with a capital of £10,000, and pioduction will commence early in the new year on a comedy, "Highway Romance." In addition to directing the film, Mr. Longden will portray the leading role.

? This picture is an outdoor story. It Is set in the picturesque highways of northern New South Wales, and tells of the adventures of » young- Englishman and a typically Australian girl, tramping fiom Sydney to Brisbane.

Mr. Longden íeceived his early diamatic training under Sir Barry Jackson, al. the Bir-mingham Repertory Theatre, and appeared In the) West End before forsaking the stage for the screen. He played in the first British, alltalking production. "Blackmail."
