THELMA SCOTT'S

UNDERSTUDY.

In "Ten Minute Alibi."

Miss Helene Best is one of the three daughters of

Sir Robert and Lady Best, of Melbourne, now in

Sydney as understudy to Miss Thelma Scott, leading (and only) lady in the cast of "Ten Minute Alibi" at the Criterion Theatre. Miss Phyllis Best will be re-membered for her per-formances in Dame Sybil Thorndike's company two years ago. The company was disbanded in Sydney, and Phyllis married Athol Fleming, a member of the com-pany, and returned to London, where she has lived ever since, and now has a baby son who absorbs a great deal

of her attention.

Miss Helene Best

with many other players, Helene Best received her early training under Gregan MacMahon. She played in "Death Takes a Holiday,"- "Jonah and the Whale," and did a-small part in the film, "Waltzing Matilda.". Miss Scott and she played together In "Jonah and the Whale," so It was very -pleasant for both to find themselves associated in "Ten Minute Alibi.". Miss Best is very keen on her work, and works hard in her spare time at singing, piano, and stage dancing.
