MR. ARTHUR SHIRLEY. ¡
Mr. Arthur Shirley, a pioneer Australian
film -producer, arrived in Sydney yesterday from the United States. Mr. Shirley has spent the last four years at Hollywood, and he intends to re-engage in film production in
Australia.
Mr. Shirley appeared in lending parts in a number of American films between 1913 and
1920. He returned to Australia and produced several films, the most notable of which was
"The Mystery of a Hansom Cab," which was shown throughout Australia, and in England. "The Mystery of a Hansom Cab" was com
pleted in 1925, and since then, Mr. Shirley
has observed film production methods in Eng-end, Germany, and the United States. The
production company which he intends to form in Australia is to be called Australian National Films, and he himself intends to direct the productions.
