UNIVERSITY SENATE.

At the monthly meeting of the Senate of Sydney Unlversltv it was stated that the Aus-

trallan National Research Council had decided to found a medal to be known as "The Thomas Ranken Lyle Medal," for award to the living author of researches in mathematics and physics which appeared to the Council, on the advice of the University authorities, most deserving of the honour.

A gift from the Consul General for China of copies of booklets published by the Intelli-

gence Department of the Central Government of China was received with thanks.

It was decided to invite applications for the vacant Chair of Anthropology, the tenure to be limited to a period of five years.

The following appointments were made: Mr. R. O. McGechan, B.A., LL.B., as lecturer in Public International Law and Jurisprudence during Michaelmas term, 1933; Dr. C. H. Currey, M.A., LL.D., as lecturer In Political Science during Michaelmas term, 1933; Drs. F. W. Nlesche, F. D. Braddon, V. J. Kinsella, W. K. Roberts, and H. M. Rennie to positions in the department of Anatomy, the last two to hold honorary positions. Mr. E. V. Steel, B.A., was appointed assistant librarlan in the Fisher library from January 1, 1934, and also acting librarian in 1934 during the absence of the librarian.
