Taisho on the Way.

! BACKED FOR METROPOLITAN.

The much travelled Taisho, who left Mel-bourne yesterday for Sydney, was in great demand for the Metropolitan. Immedlatelv after his departure from the southern capital he was Joined In doubles for large amounts .with Rogilla, Chatham, and Jacko. The move was not, however, confined to Victoria, as a number of local operators laid similar doubles before journeying to Tattersalls meeting at

Randwick.

The racing at Randwick also brought about several alterations in the market. Chatham, as a result of his dead-heat with Rogilla in the second division of the Tramway Handi-cap, was more solidly entrenched as favour-ite, while Rogilla joined Jacko, who was with-drawn owing to the heavy going, and the Newcastle representative, Johnnie Jason, another that did not fulfil his engagement, on the second line. Gold Mag's victory in the Welter Handicap caused him to firm several

points for the spring mile race.

The New Zealand colt, Galne Carring-ton, winner of the Chelmsford Stakes In an Impressive manner, Is now the pre-post elect lor the A.J.C. Derby. He was much too

good for Kuvera.
