2CH TO OPEN SOON.

ANNOUNCERS 'APPOINTED.

It was announced yesterday, by Mr. F. E.

Stewart, governing director of the Council of Churches Broadcasting Station, 2CH that the

station would be testing on its allotted wave length of 248 metres next week. Mr. Stewart also stated that Mr. A. S. Cochrane, the well-known 2FC announcer, has joined the station staff as chief announcer. Mr Cochrane, who is better known as the "Hello Man," has been associated with broadcasting since its inception in Australia having been 2FC's an-nouncer since the station was first on the air. 2CH's assistant announcer will be Mr. Bryan Taylor, well known as the leading tenor of the A.B.C. Musical Comedy Company, while Mr. Ewart Chapple, one time programme direc-tor of the National Service in New South Wales, has been performing his duties as 2CH's studio director for some weeks. Mr. T. McNeil, the engineer-in-charge of the sta-tion, was for two years departmental super-visor of 2BL.

The new station, which will have a power

of 1000 watts, will be officially opened shortly.
