1 Mr. Harry Southwell, who has produced a

I number of films, including a version of Sir Henry Irvlng's "The Bells," "Down Under," and the "Kelly Gang," returned to Sydney yesterday by the Hobsons Bay. While he was , in England hi launched Anglo-Australian .Films, Ltd. Mr. Southwell intends to pro-

duce several Australian films dealing with pioneering and historical episodes. Two will be produced in New South Wales, two in , -Victoria, and one in. Western Australia. Into ! these will be Introduced scenes dealing with I gold-digging, the sheep and timber industries, and the days of the clipper ship. The social directress of the company will be Lady Falk-land, who is expected to arrive in about a

month.

Mr. Southwell is of the opinion that Aus-tralian film actors are far ahead of their British cousins In initiative and are fortunate in not being fettered by the acting tradition. Referring to Improvements in talkie pictures, Mr. Southwell said that in six months Great Britain would have the best process yet de-vised, capable of giving the true perspective. In Australian pictures, particular attention would be paid to natural sound production and dialogue would be eliminated as far a3 possible. _______________
