NEW AUSTRALIAN ROSE.

"Warrawee," a two-colour pink rose, raised from seed by Mrs H C Fitzhardinge in her garden at Warrawee, has won favour in the United States where the newcomer was "tried out" by Dr Harris McFarlane, editor of the

American "Rose Annual "

To further prove the worth of the new rose, Dr McFarlane gave buds to Mr Marion Hat-ton, a rosarían who has a wide knowledge of the world's best roses for use in his garden at Rhode Island. The plants he grew did splendidly. Both men have written to Mrs. Fltzhardlnge complimenting her on the suc-cess of the rose, and asking for permission to propagate it and offer it for sale Mrs Fltz-hardinge has acceded to that request.

For ten years rose-growing from seed has been one of Mrs Fitzhardlnge's greatest pleasures. Over 20 000 young plants hava passed through her hands, and flowered In the beds provided for them. Out of the company only 12 have been retained for garden service. ' Warrawee," which always pleased her by its vigour of growth and beautiful pink colour-ing, now has a chance of representing Aus-tralia in the rose gardens of the world.
