OBITUARY.

SIR ERNEST MOON.

News has been received by his relatives in Sydney of the death of Sir Ernest Robert Moon, K.C.B., K.C., at Brazier's Park, Oxford. Sir Ernest, who was in his 76th year, was a son of the late Sir Richard Moon, Bart., chair-man of the London and North-Western Rail-way. A Bencher of the Inner Temple, he was counsel to the Speaker of the House of Commons from 1908 to 1929. He was chair-man of the Munitions Tribunal for the South-west Midland district, 1915-17; of the Enemy Trading Committee, 1916-19; and a member of several other important committees. He visited Sydney in 1886. Up to the time of his death was chairman of directors of the Wallarah Coal Company.

In 1881 Sir Ernest Moon married Miss Emma Henrietta Penelope Lamb, eldest daughter of the late Mr. John de Villiers Lamb, of Sydney, who survives him. A son, Mr. Arthur Moon, is at the Bar in England. Mr. Basil Oliver Moon, a younger son, was killed at the war. Messrs, J. W. Lamb, S. E. Lamb, K.C., E. de V. Lamb, and F. de V. Lamb, all of Sydney, were Sir Ernest's

brothers-in-law.
