NEW VESSELS.

Flourishing Industry.

The extensive trawling fleet operating on the New South Walos coast gives promise of challenging the numerical strength of tho "slxty-mtlcra" in the Sydney-Newcastle coal

trade.

Four more steam trawlers will shortly be »ailing out of Sydney to exploit the fishing grounds to the south, and thora are indi-cations that In the now year the fleet will be augmented still further.

Among the latest to extend his Interests in the fishing Industry la Mr. T. A. Field, wholesale butcher and pnstorallst. He was the recent purcbnser of the Nodzu and AsaroB, which are expected at Fremantle this week on their way from Cardiff to Sydney. The vessels will be the largest of their kind In Australian waters. They are practically identical, each having a gross register of 282 tons, a length of 128 feet, a beam of 23 feet, and a depth of 12 feet C Inches. They were built at Beverley In 1920. and. each vessel Is fitted with wlroless.

Mr. Field stated last night that his repre-sentative was in England, and there was a probability of other vessels being purchased.

Mr, A. A. Murrell, the owner of the David Blake, one of the best-known of the Sydney trawlers, expects his new vessel, the Samuel Benbow, to bo in commission soon after Christmas. The Samuel Bonbow was built by Hall, Russell, and Co., at Aberdeen, ac-cording to special specifications, nnd under the supervision of Mr. Herbert Want, en-gineer of the David Blake. The vessel was to have left Aberdeon for Sydney on Satur-day. She Is of 206 tons gross,, and her principal dimensions are: Length 118 feet, boam 23 feet, draught 13 feet. The vessel Is fitted with wireless, Bnd Is provided with an insulated fish room 1« her hold.

The Mary Cam, which was purchased In England, and in to join the fleet of Cnm and Sons, Is expected at Sydney on Saturday. The vessel ran aground when coming through Torres Straits Inst week, and la to dock for survey immediately on arrival.
