NEW ARTISTS ARRIVE.

PRODUCTION_OF "SUNNY."

With the approach of the opening of the

new Empire Theatre, and the first Australian production of the musical comedy "Sunny,"

the artists engaged abroad for this piece are

on their way to Sydney, and three arrived

yesterday by the Naldera from London - Miss Queenie Ashton, Miss Alison Stewart, and Mr. Franklyn Tilton. Miss Ashton, a youthful soprano who will sing the part of Sue Warren in the new piece, gained leading roles early in her career, and was prominent in the London production of "Kid Boots" at the Winter Garden in February last year. Mr. Leslie Henson was in the chief comedy part, and among the other principals were Miss Vera Lennox, Miss Diana Wilson, and Messrs. Arthur Margetson and Claude Hulbert. Miss Ashton was engaged by Sir Alfred Butt for a new piece at Drury Lane, but the pronounced success of "Rose Marie" delayed its produc-tion. Accordingly Mr. Ernest Rolls, who is to produce "Sunny" in Sydney, was able to secure her for the present engagement, "Sunny," the music of which is by Jerome Kern, has had a long run in New York, and is repeating this success in London, where it was produced at the Hippodrome in October last. Several other principals for "Sunny" are to arrive here by the Niagara.
