BEQUEST TO UNIVERSITY.

After leaving many bequests and numerous legacies to friends and Institutions, be bequeatbedytbe residue of his property upon trust to the Senate of the University of Sydney for such uses for the benefit of the Institution as the Senate in its absolute discretion should determine."

Owing to certain legal difficulties, it was only in July, 1924, that the trustees were in a position to give effect to the benefactors directions, and even now the value of the gift to the University cannot be accurately stated. But the trustees have informed the University that the estate has been realised to a great extent, and that after realisation of some further assets and the death of certain annuitants a sum approximating £109,600 (of which sum, £46,000 has already been paid over will be received by the University.
